TORONTO — A Canadian Screen Awards special that replaced a live show took on a patriotic tone Sunday night, promoting the work of this country’s film and TV creatives and celebrities. The pre-taped hour-long special hosted by comedian Samantha Bee featured speeches from top award winners crowned over the past week, and interviews with special honourees including actors Ryan Reynolds, Catherine O’Hara and Simu Liu. CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man is dead after a fatal shooting that led to SWAT intervention in Garfield Park late Sunday afternoon.According to the Chicago Police Department, a 20-year-old man was walking westbound in the 3800 block of West Arthington Street around 4:15 p.m. when four unknown offenders approached him and opened fire, hitting him in the face.The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 2 teens shot in the Loop during large disturbance After the shooting, the offenders ran into a building in the 900 block of South Springfield Avenue where SWAT is currently investigating the incident. AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Public Safety said no explosive devices were found at the Texas State Capitol after an earlier bomb threat evacuated the grounds Sunday afternoon. Texas DPS sent an alert obtained by KXAN shortly after 4 p.m. that said Austin Police Department received a 911 call from an unknown person. The caller said there was a pipe bomb at the Capitol. DPS troopers and bomb-sniffing dogs searched the grounds to determine there was no explosive found.
