Brush fire erupts in Angeles National Forest Crews are working to control a brush fire in the Angeles National Forest near Agua Dulce Tuesday afternoon. The Agua Fire was reported around 2:15 p.m. near Soledad Canyon and Agua Dulce Canyon roads, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. County A woman who was punched by a sheriff's deputy while holding her baby last year has filed a federal lawsuit against Los Angeles County and the deputies involved in the violent encounter.In a federal civil rights lawsuit, Yeayo Russell alleges the deputies involved in the July 13, 2022 incident used excessive force in her wrongful arrest. The incident unfolded when deputies pulled over a vehicle for not having its headlights on in Palmdale. They discovered three women with babies in their arms and no car seats.Bodycam video realized by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department shows an encounter between Palmdale deputies and a mother holding her child on July 13, 2023. Eventually, the male driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and the women were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment. Brentwood woman arrested in fatal stabbing of husband (KRON) -- A woman in Brentwood was arrested Tuesday morning in connection to the fatal stabbing of her husband, the Brentwood Police Department said. Officers with Brentwood PD arrived around 10:15 a.m. to the 300 block of MacArthur Way for a welfare check on a couple at a residence.Upon arriving at the scene, police found the wife. There was evidence indicating a violent crime had just occurred. Officers detained the woman and searched the residence. Car that veered off Sanchez stairs was carjacked They found a dead man who had been stabbed several times. There were no other victims at the residence or on the scene, police said.The deceased man and the woman were married and lived together at the residence, police said. Brentwood PD has declined to release the names of either party until next of kin have been notified.The woman is in custody and there is no known threat to public safety, police said. Berkeley city council to consider automated license plate readers (BCN) -- The Berkeley City Council will consider buying automated license plate readers (ALPRs) at its Tuesday meeting. The Berkeley Police Department is proposing a two-year trial of 52 ALPRs around the city. The proposal seeks approval of an initial setup cost of $250,000 and an annual operating cost of $175,000. The ALPRs would be mounted on fixed locations around the city and automatically capture images of stolen vehicles, cars connected to crimes, and vehicles on a BPD database of license plates associated with vehicles of interest.
