GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Tesoro Italian Restaurant, located at 2080 Western Avenue in Guilderland's Hamilton Square, is closing after 15 years. Owner and chef Raffaele Sainato is retiring. "We just had a granddaughter this year."Sainato emigrated to Albany from Calabria, Italy in 1974. He began his career at the Italian American Community Center and went on to become Head Chef at Michele Da Verona in 1983. In 1992, he became head chef at Lombardo’s in downtown Albany. In September 2008, Sainato opened Tesoro along with his sous chef Abdullah Zinneddine. HORICON, N.Y. (NEWS10) - On Sunday, New York State Forest Rangers responded to an active fire in the town of Horicon. A fire was reported on Palisades Road, which runs along Brant Lake.Rangers found that the fire began as a structure fire, but spread into an adjacent area of wildlands after lighting some nearby woods. ST. LOUIS - The future of a quo warranto case against outgoing St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner will beyond Tuesday. Gardner just announced that she will be resigning Tuesday, nearly two weeks before she had planned to step down. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey's team was in court Tuesday to accuse Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner of neglecting her duties as a prosecutor while she took nursing classes. Ultimately, both parties for Gardner and Bailey decided there was some uncertainty on the circuit attorney role after the sudden announcement from Gardner. LOUIS – A former employee in the St. Louis County municipality of Flordell Hills was sentenced Tuesday for stealing several hundred thousand dollars over a six-year period, well over the city’s annual budget.Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Maureen Woodson, the former city clerk, and Donna Thompson, the former assistant city clerk, used two different schemes to steal from the struggling city and enrich themselves, leaving the city unable to pay its bills.Flordell Hills is six square blocks and has a population of about 800 people, with an annual budget of approximately $400,000. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 54% of its residents live below the poverty line.Woodson, 68, was hired in 2010; Thompson, 76, in 2012. Both women were fired in May 2022 as a result of their crimes and indicted in August 2022. ST. LOUIS – On Monday, Richmond Heights signed an ordinance about the tax on marijuana. The city council approved the additional three percent tax on the sale of marijuana. The six percent sales tax will have to be paid by anyone who buys marijuana from a licensed store. Amendment 3, which was approved by voters and has been part of Missouri law since December 8, gives cities and towns the choice to add a 3% local sales tax. WOOD RIVER, Ill – Veron L. Law, 36, lived in Wood River, has been identified as the person whose skeletal remains have been found. He was last seen in July 2022. The remains were examined by Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn who confirmed that they were Law's through matching dental records. There is no evidence of foul play. Now, a new brew is being released to support the organization's conservation efforts called Red Panda Light Lager. On Friday, May 19, the new American Lager beer will be sold at the zoo.
