Earlier this month, downtown Danville welcomed its newest seafood restaurant: Tides, a new high-end, ocean-inspired eatery. The elegant new restaurant is, in large part, the brainchild of executive chef and general manager Marikah Woodson, whose culinary journey began years ago in Pleasanton. When she went off to college — she played basketball at San Jose State — she frequently cooked up big batches of pasta to feed friends and classmates.“Everyone loved my cooking — it was a lot of fun,” she recalls. After college, she remembers seeing an ad for Le Cordon Bleu and being instantly inspired. “I had this epiphany,” she says. “I called my mom and said, ‘I really think I want to be a chef.'”An externship at Livermore’s Wente Vineyards led to a stint as sous chef, before she teamed up with chef Matt Greco to open Salt Craft in Pleasanton. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said they participated in a wide-ranging conspiracy to subvert the will of the voters after the Republican president lost to Democrat Joe Biden in November 2020. Bond was set at $150,000, second only to Trump’s $200,000.Giuliani, 79, is accused of spearheading Trump’s efforts to compel state lawmakers in Georgia and other closely contested states to ignore the will of voters and illegally appoint electoral college electors favorable to Trump.Georgia was one of several key states Trump lost by slim margins, prompting the Republican and his allies to proclaim, without evidence, that the election was rigged in favor of his Democ...

Stock market today: Wall Street rallies as pressure eases from the bond market

Published Thu, 06 Mar 2025 12:45:05 GMT

NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street is rallying toward its best day since June on Wednesday as pressure that’s built up on stocks from the bond market relaxed a bit. The S&P 500 was 1.1% higher in late trading, trimming its loss for what’s been a dismal August so far. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 173 points, or 0.5%, at 34,462 with a little less than an hour remaining in trading. The Nasdaq composite jumped 1.7%. Big Tech stocks and others that benefit from easier interest rates led the way. They got some relief as the 10-year Treasury yield eased back further from its highest level since 2007 after a report suggested the U.S. economy may be cooling.A 2.2% gain for Apple’s stock and 1.7% climb for Microsoft shares were two of the strongest forces pushing the S&P 500 upward.Nvidia, another one of the market’s most influential stocks, rose 2.8% ahead of its latest profit report, scheduled to come out after the market closes for the day. It’s a ...
